RoofCERT Accreditation Workshops - NFRC South West Members Invitation

by RoofCERT | Sep 14, 2018

We all want roofing to be a trade that attracts the best talent and gives everyone in it the right skills and a recognised career path to make it a lifelong profession.

Too often roofing is seen by the outside world as a place for cowboys. In fact, a recent survey carried out by Which? Magazine found that roofers were the least trusted of all the building trades, compared to electricians who come top in the league of trust.

That’s because despite the good work you deliver day in and day out, there are unskilled and inexperienced people that can simply set themselves up in business, affecting everyone else’s reputation in the process.

RoofCERT – the roofer’s accreditation scheme

This is why the NFRC has partnered with the CITB in a four-year programme to develop RoofCERT, an industry-recognised accreditation standard for a roofing installer.

RoofCERT will focus on and capture:

  • Existing vocational qualifications
  • The value of existing expertise
  • Upskilling the workforce
  • Attracting new talent
  • Improving the image of the industry

The initial objective is to accredit an initial 5,000 roofing installers by the end of the programme in 2021.

Be part of the pilot programme

RoofCERT is a collaborative programme delivered by the industry for the industry, involving employers across the supply chain, trade associations, training groups and other training providers.

Most importantly we want our members to champion it, so hearing your views and experience is vital for its success. This is why we’re holding a series of events across the regions that give you the chance to find out about RoofCERT and its activities, and to get directly involved.
