MHCLG: The Construction Products Reform White Paper, May

Published in February 2026, the white paper sets out the government’s commitment to a reformed construction products system that delivers safe homes, buildings and infrastructure.

Join MHCLG for a webinar to hear more about the Construction Products Reform White Paper.

Published in February 2026, the white paper sets out the government’s commitment to a reformed construction products system that delivers safe homes, buildings and infrastructure. Reforms will support long term growth, innovation and productivity, and ensure clear responsibilities and accountability at every stage, helping to build confidence and trust for the construction sector, residents and communities.

During the webinar, the government will cover key aspects of the reform proposals including:

  • Progressing additional measures to strengthen the regulatory regime, including the introduction of a general safety requirement (which the government are consulting on in parallel), and reforms to maintain consistency with the reformed EU regime for products regulated against standards.
  • A step change in product information, testing standards, certification oversight, and digitalisation to ensure specifiers, installers and users can base product decisions on reliable information.
  • Stronger powers, clearer responsibilities and a more coherent regulatory framework to support the work of the national regulator for construction products, as the single construction regulator is set up.

This webinar is open to all who have a stake in the future regime. Both the White Paper and General Safety Requirement consultations close on 20th May 2026.
