CIJC agrees staggered increase in annual holiday entitlement

The Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) has agreed a two-stage increase in annual holiday entitlement under the Working Rule Agreement.

From 1 January 2027: an additional half day, taking the industry entitlement from 23 to 23.5 days, plus eight public/bank holidays.
From 1 January 2028: a further half day, taking the entitlement to 24 days, plus eight public/bank holidays.

The current entitlement of 23 days remains in place for 2026. The CIJC will publish an updated Holiday Entitlement briefing for 2027 in December.

The 2026 briefing covers holiday dates, holiday pay calculation and the winter break arrangements for England, Wales and Scotland.
