However, the misuse of drugs and alcohol poses a significant risk to all on site. The Health in Construction Leadership Council (HCLG) has recognised the need for a dedicated working group to address these challenges head-on.

To support the work of the HCLG Drug & Alcohol Working Group, a questionnaire has been designed to understand the different approaches to drug and alcohol testing across the industry.

NFRC encourages Members to complete the questionnaire to support this important workstream that will look to develop solutions that are both practical and effective. There is currently a lack of a clear scientific definition of impairment and the absence of uniform industry testing. The topic is also a current workstream for the NFRC Health, Safety and Environment committee.
