Further development of the Roofing Trailblazer apprenticeships
The Roofing Trailblazer apprenticeship course is currently being reviewed and updated with a Sustainable Roofer pathway being added to the options already open to roofing apprentices. Read more about the current progress.
The review of the Roofing Trailblazer apprenticeship and the addition of a Sustainable Roofer pathway has continued. The required paperwork setting out the Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours for the Sustainable Roofer pathway have been submitted to the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IATE). This forms the basis of the apprenticeship standard. The next steps are to work on the proposal to revise the apprenticeship. Whilst the approval process for the proposal is ongoing, work on drafting the new standard, EPA (end point assessment) and collation of funding information will take place. Once this process has been completed, the Sustainable Roofer pathway will join the existing Roof Slater and Tiler, Waterproof Membranes Installer, Roof Sheeter and Cladder apprenticeship options. Trailblazer apprenticeships aim to ensure that participants have the vocational skills required to succeed in their chosen profession. Importantly, they are designed in partnership with industry employers to ensure that the skills and knowledge required are reflected in the content of the apprenticeships.
