January blues: wellbeing and mental health
January can be a really tough time of the year. Short cold winter days and financial hangovers from the festive season can make us feel down or exacerbate any existing worries or problems we have. It is vitally important that we take the time to stop and check in our wellbeing and mental health, and look out and look after our family, friends and colleagues. The Lighthouse Club, the Construction Industry charity for workers and their families, have a wide range of support, initiatives and signposting. They also have a Wellbeing Academy, with details on MHFA Accredited Training and free e-learning covering a range of topics including drugs and alcohol, suicide awareness, self-care and more.
If you or someone you know needs support, you can contact the Construction Industry Helpline, run by the Lighthouse Club charity, on 0345 605 1956 or via text by messaging HARDHAT to 85258. It is available 24/7 and is free.
