Fundraising activity by the London and Southern Counties Region has facilitated a donation of £10,000 being made to local charity Southern Wellness Action Group (SWAG) to support mental health and wellbeing in the roofing industry. SWAG was set up by Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd's Health & Safety Adviser Ian Pickard, together with Jason Wickenden from local building contractor Cheesmur. The aim of SWAG is to promote mental health and wellbeing throughout the construction sector in the south east and to provide support for any individual in mental health crisis or simply in need of a friendly conversation. SWAG has formed a pool of qualified Mental Health First Aiders from companies based in the South East, including Clarke Roofing, who are available to assist anyone who feels they need help. All money raised for SWAG is used to fund immediate private counselling sessions for anyone in the construction industry should the need arise.
