SkillBuild 2026: Registrations Open Now!

NFRC is calling on Members and Training Providers to put their rising talent forward to compete in the regional qualifiers for SkillBuild 2026.

The regional heats, which take place from March-June at colleges across the UK give talented apprentices and trainees a chance to put their skills against the best from their region for a place in the national finals, taking place in November. Each year, the final attracts thousands of spectators to watch the competition unfold before the winner is announced at a glamorous ceremony on the Friday evening.

Regional heats for Slating & Tiling begin on 26 March at Langley Training Services, with five other heats taking place over the following months until 4 June 2026. SkillBuild have also released the Regional Qualifier project drawings ahead of the competition.

The drawings will helo competitors plan and understand what's expected on the day and allow them to practice ahead of the challenge, allowing much more time to prepare and build confidence.

Why should I enter?

SkillBuild, delivered by CITB, is the largest multi-trade competition in the UK for construction trainees and apprentices. It's a huge opportunity to put your talent to the test, gain recognition from the industry, and help give your career a competitive edge. Not only that, but it's a three-day trip with hotel stay and a chance to meet new tradespeople and build valuable connections.
