Welsh Members Encouraged to Apply for Flexible Skills Funding

Up to 50% of funding towards accredited training costs available for businesses operating across Wales.

NFRC Members based in Wales are encouraged to take advantage of the Welsh Government’s Flexible Skills Programme, a valuable funding opportunity to help employers invest in their workforce and strengthen skills across the industry.

The programme provides up to 50% funding towards accredited training costs, with a maximum contribution of £50,000 per application and no minimum limit. Whether you’re looking to fill skills gaps, retain staff, or attract new talent, this scheme can help you invest in your team’s future.

Who Can Apply?

Funding is open to most employers operating across Wales. To be eligible, your business must:

  • Be based in Wales and financially solvent
  • Commit to allowing staff to complete the supported training by March 2026

Applicants are free to choose any certified training provider, as long as the training is accredited or meets a recognised industry standard. Funding awards are discretionary, with final eligibility determined by the Welsh Government.

Interested businesses should complete the Expression of Interest form here.

A member of the Welsh Government’s Skills team will respond within 10 working days. Relationship Managers are also available to assist with applications if needed. Find out more here.

Sell2Wales Procurement Opportunities

NFRC also encourages Members operating in Wales to sign up to the Built Environment Dashboard through the Sell2Wales platform, which lists public sector contract opportunities as part of the ‘Optimised Retrofit Programme’.

The dashboard will be used to secure contractors and suppliers for public sector work in Wales, but you will only be eligible if you establish a profile for your business on Sell2Wales.

Sell2Wales provides a free and secure opportunity for securing contract and tender opportunities. 80% of opportunities listed through the platform are ‘smaller opportunities’ and ideal for businesses of all types and sizes.

NFRC has been working with the Welsh Government to support the launch of the Built Environment Dashboard and encourages all Members operating in or around Wales to sign up.

A video tutorial for signing up for the first time can be viewed here.
