CLC Launches Consultation on Mental Health in Construction
The consultation is open until 5 November 2025 and seeks views from across the industry.

The initiative follows a series of workshops led by the CLC in partnership with Mates in Mind and the University of Warwick. These explored the main factors contributing to poor mental health in construction and how they might be reduced or eliminated.
The urgency of this work is clear. The suicide rate in UK construction is currently four times the national average. Behind these statistics are colleagues, friends and family members.
The consultation forms part of the CLC’s wider Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy, which aims to create a working environment that fosters better mental health across the industry. Once responses have been gathered, the CLC will publish an action plan with guidance in Spring 2026, setting out practical steps that businesses and leaders can take to help tackle the issue.
NFRC is encouraging all Members to take part in this consultation. Your insights will help shape an industry-wide action plan to improve wellbeing for everyone working in roofing and construction.
