NFRC inspires future talent at Diversity and Inclusion in Construction Conference 2026
Joined by NFRC member Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd, we delivered an interactive skills showcase, giving visitors the opportunity to try their hand at laying roof tiles. The practical demonstration provided an introduction to roofing skills, encouraging visitors to learn more about the trade and the rewarding careers it can offer.
Alongside the showcase, NFRC London & Southern Counties (L&SC) committee members Sophie Pourou and Kayleigh Lamprell took part in a panel discussion, sharing their experiences of working in roofing and highlighting the importance of encouraging people from all backgrounds to consider a career in construction.
Their stories clearly resonated with the audience, and, following the session, one young attendee stayed behind to speak further with Sophie and Kayleigh. Having been inspired by their career journeys, they were keen to learn more about opportunities within the roofing sector and how to explore entry routes, which we are currently supporting through engagement with members and training providers across the L&SC region.
The interaction demonstrated the value of sharing real experiences and providing visible role models to help challenge perceptions of the industry.
Through its participation in DIIC 2026, NFRC reinforced its commitment to supporting a more diverse and inclusive roofing workforce, while working with members to inspire the next generation of talent.
NFRC would like to thank Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd, Sophie Pourou, and Kayleigh Lamprell for their contribution to the event and for helping to champion the opportunities available across the sector.
