Key information
For young people:
At East Sussex College, we help young people develop the skills, confidence, and industry knowledge needed for successful careers in construction and roofing. We provide high-quality vocational training in a supportive and inclusive learning environment, combining practical workshop experience with classroom-based learning.
Our programmes are designed to prepare young people for real-world jobs by working closely with employers and industry partners to make sure training reflects current industry standards and expectations. Students benefit from experienced tutors, modern facilities, and opportunities to gain recognised qualifications while developing employability and teamwork skills.
We understand that every learner’s journey is different, and we focus on supporting personal development alongside technical ability. Whether progressing into apprenticeships, employment, or further study, our aim is to equip young people with the foundations for long-term success within the roofing and wider construction industries.
For employers:
East Sussex College works in partnership with employers to deliver industry-relevant training that supports workforce development and helps address skills shortages across the construction and roofing sectors.
We offer vocational programmes and apprenticeship pathways designed to meet current industry needs, combining technical knowledge with hands-on practical training. By engaging with employers, we offer educational programmes that reflect evolving standards, legislation, and workplace expectations.
Our experienced teaching staff and modern training facilities help young people develop the skills, behaviours, and competencies required to contribute effectively to the workplace from day one. We value strong employer relationships and welcome opportunities for collaboration through work placements, apprenticeships, guest speaking, and curriculum development.
Our goal is to support employers in building a skilled, motivated, and future-ready workforce while providing learners with clear progression routes into sustainable employment within the roofing and wider construction industries.
Provision
East Sussex College delivers apprenticeships and vocational training through a combination of college-based learning, employer workplace training, and onsite assessment. Training is delivered using a blended approach, including practical workshops, classroom teaching, online learning, and regular workplace visits to support apprentice progress and development.
We work closely with employers to tailor training around business needs while ensuring apprentices gain the technical skills, industry knowledge, and behaviours they need to succeed in the workplace. Our experienced tutors and assessors provide ongoing support to both apprentices and employers throughout the programme.
We support employers and learners across East Sussex, including Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes, Newhaven, Brighton & Hove, and neighbouring areas across the South East. Where appropriate, elements of training and assessment can also be delivered remotely to support employer flexibility and wider regional engagement.
