In total, we welcome around 5,500 students, and we recruit from across the UK. We are committed to promoting equality and diversity, and inclusivity and safeguarding are central to our mission and values. We work extremely hard to ensure students represent every section of our community.
An apprenticeship is ideal if you know which career path you want to follow and you would like to earn a salary whilst learning.
It combines training delivered at college with hands-on work experience where you work towards completing a qualification.
The length of an apprenticeship varies from 18 months to four years.

You can apply for the apprenticeship you want to study online. You must have an employer to apply for an apprenticeship.
You can also register with the National Apprenticeship Vacancy Matching Service. This will allow you to search and apply for apprenticeship vacancies.
If you are a school leaver you could also consider applying for a study programme. Many of our students enrol on a study programme and during their first year transfer over to an apprenticeship when they find an employer. We have a bank of employers who regularly recruit directly from our full-time students.

Enrolment is the final stage to you becoming a fully registered student at Leeds College of Building. Due to the restrictions in place to control Covid-19, enrolment will be done electronically or on your first day in College.
If you have received a conditional or unconditional offer from us, Student Services will contact you by email with instructions on how you can enrol.
If you are applying for an apprenticeship, enrolment is the final stage to you becoming a fully registered student at Leeds College of Building. If you have been offered a place on a HNC or HND, enrolment will be completed electronically or on your first day in college.

One of our strengths is our links with businesses. We partner with over 600 leading employers. This means we can tap into expertise that benefits all our students throughout their studies.
Students get hands-on experience in the real world, and we make sure our courses meet the needs of industry. Students can also gain opportunities or employment through these business relationships.
Being specialists in construction we are at the forefront of apprenticeship development. We offer apprenticeships across a huge range of disciplines, from Level 2 to Level 6 and have built a solid reputation for our first-rate education and training.
We currently work with over 600 employers, from local companies to large corporations and have 2,500 apprentices on programme.
Many of our apprentices are outstanding, winning national awards including BTEC Apprentice of the Year, SkillBuild Medals and New Civil Engineer Apprentice of the Year, and in 2020 we were named the UK’s top apprenticeship provider at the FE Week Awards.
Provision: What and where?
Leeds College of Building (LCB) is the only General Further Education College (GFEC) in the UK dedicated to the construction industry. Since the 1960s, we have played a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education and training for the industry, and we remain committed to supporting new developments and ensuring vocational and technical provision meets industry needs. The construction industry adds enormous value to the country. It provides many jobs and its output is essential for commerce, housing, infrastructure and repair and maintenance. LCB is proud and honoured to support the continuing and future needs of a highly skilled construction industry workforce.
At Leeds College of Building, we deliver our apprenticeships to students from all regions of the country, our roofing team are based at the Southbank campus in the City’s educational quarter.

We offer Roof Slater and Tiler provision under the Roofer apprenticeship standard.
